With the page turned horizontally, this is a very slight continuation of the beach or waves in the foreground of a view of Ostend immediately across the gutter on folio 6 verso opposite (D30471), to which the only partly legible descriptive inscription here relates. For numerous Ostend views on adjacent pages, marking the end of Turner’s 1840 tour, see under folio 1 recto (D30460).1
