The three numbered drawings were made with the page turned horizontally. The first shows Ostend’s old lighthouse, among dunes or waves overlooking the harbour channel north-east of the town, aspects of which are apparently shown in the smaller studies. For numerous Ostend views on adjacent pages, marking the end of Turner’s 1840 tour, see under folio 1 recto (D30460).1
