This sketch of Rotterdam’s Kolk Harbour extends onto the folio opposite (Tate D32450; Turner Bequest CCCXXI 4) to form one wide-angled view. Drawn from a vantage point on the Draaibrug, the Korenbeurs (Corn Exchange) and Cathedral of St Lawrence are visible at centre. The domed building at right is the Beurs or Stock Exchange. Vessels are moored on the quayside.
