This is a view of the Rhine in Germany, with Burg Fürstenberg atop a ridge at left. The castle is pictured elsewhere in the Turner Bequest on Tate D12825, D12842, D12940, D29727–D29731, D30572–D30573, D30662; Turner Bequest CLX 64, 72a, CLXI 31a, CCXCVI 67a–69, CCCIII 58–59, CCCIV 16a; see also a watercolour of Fürstenberg produced in 1817 now housed at the Manchester City Galleries, Manchester.1
Turner has inscribed ‘Furstenberg’ at rear.
