This is a view of Stettin, produced in three parts. From the River Oder, Turner looks upstream towards St James’s Church and the Ducal Castle atop the ridge. Close to the Oder’s bank is the Tower of the Seven Coats and in the middle distance at right stands the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. The view is extended at top right and top left.
For other sketches of Stettin see Tate D31083–D31093, D31095–D31106; Turner Bequest CCCVII 32a–37a, 38a–44.
