Here Turner has drawn two views of Stettin, now in modern day Poland. The principal prospect shows the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul and Church of St James with the Ducal Castle in the background. The north façade of Stettin Castle is rendered in a separate detail at rear (drawn inversely to the main sketch).
For other sketches of Stettin see Tate D31083–D31093, D31095–D31106; Turner Bequest CCCVII 32a–37a, 38a–44.
