Here Turner has rendered rough copies of three paintings at the Dresden Picture Gallery (Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister). They are: Aert de Gelder (1645–1727) Christ before Pilate (1671), Raphael (1483–1520) The Sisteen Madonna (1512/13), Antonio da Correggio (1489–1534) The Penitent Magdalene Reading (missing since 1945). Colour notes are inscribed around The Sisteen Madonna: ‘W[hite]’, ‘L[ight] Y[ellow]’, ‘M’, ‘B[lue]’, ‘Madonna’, ‘Red’, ‘Green’, ‘Green’, ‘Or’, ‘Blue’.
