This is a sketch of Dresden, the capital of Saxony. Turner shows the baroque Frauenkirche from a vantage point on the Neumarkt in the centre of the city. Details of the church’s lantern and towers are rendered around the sides of the view. At rear Turner has inscribed ‘Eberferh[...]’, which is related to the list of German phrases rendered on the folio opposite (Tate D41211).
