Turned vertically, the page comprises a thumbnail sketch of a windmill with what may be a church tower with a turret beyond. There is no indication of a wider setting, although windmills on folios 6 verso and 7 recto (D35498, D35499) appear to be on a Channel coast, the subject of adjacent drawings. See the sketchbook’s Introduction for the many slight coastal views scattered through it.
Technical notes:
There is some brown staining at the gutter, possibly indicating water damage in the 1928 Tate flood.
