The subject is continued on folio 5 recto opposite (D03285). As Finberg noted,1 a ‘Scottish Pencil’ drawing of this view is Tate D03426 (Turner Bequest LVIII 47), which he identified as showing Loch Long.
This drawing is the first of a series of studies of peaks and passes in the ‘Arrochar Alps’, the range of mountains between the head of Loch Long and Loch Fyne; they are to be found on folios 5verso–6 recto, 6 verso–7 recto, 7 verso, 8 recto, 8 verso–9 recto, 9 verso, 10 recto, 10 verso–11 recto, 11 verso, 12 recto, 12 verso–13 recto and 13 verso–14 recto (D03286–D03303).
