This is presumably the head of Christ, and taken from a print after an Italian sixteenth-century painter. There is a slight study of the same head in pencil, lower right, evidently done to establish the general structure of the head. Finberg listed the sheet among miscellaneous drawings of about 1796. Compare another head apparently of Christ, in pencil (Tate D41450; Turner Bequest CCCLXXIX 3v).
The sheet is torn.
Verso:
Blank; stamped in brown ink with Turner Bequest monogram.
