With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled much of this page with a study of an avenue of trees with strait paths and an open stretch of flat ground. Such features are common to the formal gardens of Paris and the Île-de-France which were the subject of extensive study in this volume. For comparisons, see the sketchbook Introduction for lists of these drawings. A further cursory study of irregular buildings has been included along the bottom edge of the page.
