Made with the page turned horizontally, this is a rough sketch that Turner was to use for a subject in the Liber Studiorum series; his watercolour design of about 1808 is Tate D08135 (Turner Bequest CXVII H), and the engraving was published in 1811 (Tate impressions: A00972, A00973). Other drawings of Laufenburg in this book are D02205, D02232 and D02233 (Turner Bequest XLVII 28, 55, 56).
