A watercolour version of this study, made with the page turned horizontally, is at Leeds Art Gallery,1 and is probably a leaf from this sketchbook; the exhibited work based on it is East view of the Gothic Abbey (noon) now building at Fonthill, the seat of W. Beckford, Esq., exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1800 (National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh).2 A copy of this finished watercolour by another hand is in the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester (D.4.1949).
