The drawing is continued on folio 10 recto opposite (D01694; Turner Bequest XLII 19). Compare the studies on folios 8 verso–9 recto and 59 verso–60 recto (D01691–D01692, D01793–D01794; Turner Bequest XLII 16–17, 118–119). All these drawings of foliage may have been made in the park at Fonthill while Turner was working on his views of the house for William Beckford in 1799; see the Salisbury and Fonthill sketchbooks (Tate; Turner Bequest XLIX, XLVII).
