There is a more elaborate drawing of this view, though from a viewpoint closer to the margin of the lake, in the contemporary Hereford Court sketchbook (Tate D01351; Turner Bequest XXXVIII 97), which is inscribed on the verso with the names of two potential patrons, ‘Honble Mr Lacelles’ and ‘Pope’; for both patrons see under D01351, and the Introductory note to Hereford Court.
