In pencil with grey and brown wash, this is one of a series of drawings in this sketchbook showing ships attended by rowing boats; see also D01657, D01658 and D01659 (Turner Bequest XLI 26, 26a, 27).
Technical notes:
An adhesive strip has been torn away from the whole length of the top edge. There are tears of approximately 10 mm at the centre of the top edge, and of approximately 20 mm at the centre of right edge. A 5 x 30 mm strip has been torn away from the bottom right corner.
Verso:
Blank; the top edge badly stained and spotted; stamped in brown ink with Turner Bequest monogram.
