The monastery (Kloster) at Stuben is depicted in a small sketch at top right; it is also shown on the previous folio (Tate D28374; Turner Bequest CCXC 12a). Below are two swiftly wrought sketches of scenes on the Moselle, possibly at Enkirch and Alf. The final sketch has been inscribed with the letter ‘v’, repeated three times. This letter has almost always represented ‘vines’ in Turner’s other annotated sketches of the Meuse- Moselle region.
