Made with the page turned vertically, this slight and diagrammatic sketch may represent Kingsgate House, near Margate.
The later inscriptions are all at right angles to the drawing, descending vertically relative to it. Towards the bottom right is the endorsement of the executors of the Turner Bequest, Charles Turner, John Prescott Knight and Charles Lock Eastlake, in ink ‘No 349 Contains 27 | leaves In Pencil & Colour | ‘C Turner’| and in pencil ‘C.L.E.’ and ‘JPK’ below. Underneath, at the bottom left in relation to the drawing, is a pencil note by curator Arthur Mayger Hind:
