The significance of the figures and dates is unclear, but they appear to be typical notes of Turner’s financial transactions. This is one of a few miscellaneous pages of notes scattered through the sketchbook, as set out in the Introduction.
The blank recto is numbered by John Ruskin in red ink ‘16’ and stamped ‘CCLXXXI – 16’.

There is offsetting from the soft pencil drawing on folio 15 verso opposite (D27752).
