As Finberg surmised, this sketch records the Chiese del Ponte and bridge at Susa. The Castello di Adelaide is in the background.
This side of the page is bound is bound as the verso although it was described as the recto by Finberg. The other side, properly 13 recto, is blank but inscribed, possibly by John Ruskin, in blue ink ‘13’ top right and with the Turner Bequest schedule number ‘357’ bottom right. It was obviously presented as the recto when the page was inscribed and numbered. It is not clear why Finberg chose to ignore this in his numbering unless he preferred to prioritise the drawn side.
