This page contains two sketches, drawn with the page upright:
i. (main sketch, bottom) The left-hand part of double-page spread continued to the right on the facing page (D29235; Turner Bequest CCXCIV 12), recording a view along a relatively straight stretch of road and flat valley floor, to a village and church spire to the left, with a large jagged mountain behind, possibly the Croix des Têtes. The sketch might be inscribed ‘Dav [or Dar]’ and ‘St Laurent [?]’, but the readings are extremely uncertain and not readily identifiable with modern place names in the area.
ii. (top) View in the Maurienne Valley, possibly looking down the valley from near St Martin towards St Julien Mont Denis, inscribed ‘Denis [?]’.
