Lanslebourg is seen here from the foot of the Mont Cenis road, looking west down the valley of the River Arc, with the Maurienne road snaking away in the middle distance and the valley closed by the Dent Parrachée. Finberg’s identification of the subject is mistaken with regard to the glaciers. These occur only on the higher slopes of Dent Parachée and are not obviously indicated here.
