This page contains three sketches:
i. (main sketch) The church of Notre Dame at Dole from the south-west, mills and water-works in the foreground.
ii. (bottom centre) A thumbnail sketch of Aosta perhaps from the north-east.
iii. (bottom right) A thumbnail sketch of Aosta from the north-east, this time a more distant view, continued to the right on the opposite page (D29058; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 14).
Dole lies south-east of Dijon, the subject of preceding pages in the sketchbook, on the direct route from Dijon to Geneva. The sketches of Aosta were clearly squeezed into any available space as the book filled up.
