This page contains two sketches:
i. (main sketch, drawn with the page upright) The Church of Notre Dame en Vaux at Châlons-en-Champagne, the west end and south side, with a detail of the porch above right.
ii. (to the right, drawn with the page inverted) The east and south sides of the same church.
Châlons officially changed its soubriquet from ‘sur Marne’ to ‘en-Champagne’ in 1998. It lies about half way on the direct route between St Omer and Geneva, although the sketches are entered in the book somewhat out of sequence. The church of Notre Dame en Vaux was built between 1157 and 1217 and became an important place of pilgrimage.
