The sketches on this page are inverted relative to the foliation. The drawings continue across the opposite page, folio 3 verso (D35339), depicting sections of a cliff coastline. Turner has rendered the contours and some of the surface texture of the cliffs with swift, abbreviated strokes of the pencil.
Technical notes:
Incidental traces of chalk appear to be unrelated to the drawing.
