‘The Sublime in Crisis? New Perspectives on the Sublime in British Visual Culture 1760–1900’, 14–15 September 2009, Clore Auditorium, Tate Britain
This two-day conference looked at the concept of the sublime across both the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with the idea of mapping points of difference and continuity. Subjects included theories of the sublime, the animal sublime, psychiatry, travel, war, symbolism and theology.
