This section of the catalogue comprises the Smaller South Wales and South Wales sketchbooks (Tate; Turner Bequest XXV, XXVI) used in Somerset and then mainly in Wales in the early summer of 1795, and the Isle of Wight sketchbook (Tate; Turner Bequest XXIV), used in Wiltshire and Hampshire and on the island itself later in the same season. For discussions of the tours and some later studies made in Kent, see the introductions to the individual sketchbooks. Also included are separate Welsh and Isle of Wight watercolours derived from the two tours and other topographical works made in the years following.
