Felin Bach was a mill; it has now been converted into a private dwelling. The ruins on the top of the hill in the background are those of the thirteenth-century Welsh castle, Dinas Brân, which overlooks Llangollen; see Tate D36582 (Turner Bequest CCCLXXVII 12). They figure in a watercolour of Valle Crucis Abbey executed by Turner shortly after this tour (Tate D00703; Turner Bequest XXVIII R); see also Tate D00335 (Turner Bequest XXI H 2).

There are blots of blue colour towards the bottom right.
