Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
This is the basis for a finished watercolour executed for Sir Richard Colt Hoare (1758–1838) (Israel Museum, Jerusalem).1 The drawing was made with the page turned horizontally, and the pinnacle of the church behind the cross is drawn as a continuation ‘above’ on folio 17 verso opposite (the verso of D00424).
