This is a copy of a drawing by John Robert Cozens (1752–1797), from which the title here has been taken; see Beckford Sketchbook II, p.16, dated ‘August 26 [1782]’ and titled ‘The Fortress in the Boschetto – Portici’ (Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, D1975.5.16).1
