The majority of the subjects show Canterbury and Rochester in Kent; others are Lee, Kent (now in the London Boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich), and Isleworth, Middlesex (now in the London Borough of Hounslow). Turner had family associations with the Isleworth area and was to live there for a while in the following decade.1
