The building in the distance resembles the Belvedere at Claremont, near Esher, Surrey, a structure built by Sir John Vanbrugh in the Gothick style for Thomas Pelham, Earl of Clare (Later Duke of Newcastle) in 1717. If this identification is correct – and no exact topographical intention can be certain here – the river in the foreground in is the Mole.
