This landscape, with a ruined tower and a river and ridge of hills beyond, is likely to be associated with adjacent sketches in this book. The best match is perhaps Horsburgh Castle near the hamlet of Glentress, as depicted on folios 11 verso–12 verso (D26115–D26117), though Cardrona Tower, depicted on folios 13–13 verso (D26118–D26119), is another possibility.
The ruin may be depicted again in the sketch at the top of the page. The shape at the left bears a resemblance to both castles; see folios 12 and 13 for comparison.
