This sketch, across the present page and folio 6 (D25772), is the last of a small group of sketches showing New Brighton Lighthouse and Fort from New Brighton (folios 3 verso–6; D25767–D25772; see folio 4; D25768 for more information). In this sketch the view is from an elevated position on the front at New Brighton rather than from the beach, which can be seen in the middle distance. In the foreground across both pages are jagged lines representing either low rocky cliffs or waves breaking against the rocks. The coastline of Liverpool (see folios 6 verso– 7; D25773–D25774) is shown in the background, and to the left of the lighthouse is shipping entering and leaving the busy port of Liverpool.
