Walter Richard Sickert with his Head Shaved c.1920
Walter Sickert was well known for changing his appearance dramatically throughout his life. He enjoyed being viewed in a range of guises and personas, and in this photograph there is a rare opportunity to see the artist with his head shaved. Sickert shaved his head on a few occasions, one of which was after the death of his second wife Christine Drummond Angus in 1920 as an expression of his grief.
