The study is continued on folio 23 recto (D00230; Turner Bequest XIX 22). It was used for the finished watercolour of Woolverhampton, Staffordshire exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1796 (Wolverhampton Art Gallery).1 See several studies of fairground stalls in the Marford Mill sketchbook, which seem to relate to that watercolour, e.g. Tate D00270, D00273, D00276–D00278 (Turner Bequest XX 9, 11, 15, 15a, 16 recto).
