From a vantage point on the Salzach near a watermill depicted in the foreground at bottom left, Turner depicts Hohensalzburg Fortress in Salzburg. The Fortress is shown again in a small sketch at bottom right, with the tower of the Stift Nonnberg, an abbey, to its right.
