This sheet was listed by Finberg among copies after John Robert Cozens (1752–1797); he assumed it, like the rest in the group, to be by Thomas Girtin (1775–1802) alone. Although most of that series can with some confidence be assigned to Girtin and Turner in collaboration under the aegis of Dr Thomas Monro (1759–1833; see the 1790s ‘Monro School’ works in the present catalogue), this seems not to be connected with Cozens, Girtin or Monro, but to belong with drawings made by Turner alone in connection with his Midlands tour of 1794.
