From a vantage point near the Palazzo Maffei, here Turner depicts the north side of the Piazza delle Erbe in Verona. The Lion of St Mark column is visible in the foreground at left, with the town hall and Torre dei Lamberti at centre (the tower continues onto the folio opposite, Tate D31561; Turner Bequest CCCXI 74). Various illegible notes are inscribed at the bottom of the view.
