Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Here Turner has made two rough sketches of a valley with precipitous tree-lined cliffs and mountains beyond. The artist has inscribed each drawing with notes of the local architectural features at the base of the valley: they are a ‘Bridge’, a ‘Chapel’, and a ‘Mill’.
