This sketch falls between views made around Innerleithen and Traquair House. The hills in the background can be identified as Cardrona Hill and Wallace’s Hill to the west of Innerleithen. This is therefore likely to be a sketch of Traquair House as seen from the road to the east, with the Quair Water in the foreground. More certain sketches of Traquair House are on folios 16 verso and 17 verso (D26125, D26127). The sun can be seen at the top right of the sketch, indicating that this was made in the late afternoon.
