These sketches show sailing vessels and a canopied barge in the Rhinegau (inscribed ‘Rheinhard’) near Wiesbaden, Germany. Schloss Beibrich, formerly the residence of the Dukes of Nassau, is depicted from a distance in the rear sketch.
Endorsements from the executors of Turner’s estate (Charles Turner, John Prescott Knight and Charles Locke Eastlake) are inscribed at top left.
