The work is mounted with the album page turned vertically, on the same sheet as D36506 (Turner Bequest CCCLXXIV 27 b). The subject is possibly the same as that of Tate D36467 (Turner Bequest CCCLXXIII 54).

Blank (laid down); the inscription (probably by Thomas Girtin in pencil) noted by Finberg and transcribed as the work’s title, ‘Bay of Baia’, is no longer apparent.
