The pencil work is by Girtin. This was copied from a pencil drawing by John Henderson (1764–1843), now in the British Museum, London (1935–2–19–3). For the group of Dover drawings to which the present work belongs (Tate D36616–D36624; Turner Bequest CCCLXXVIII 1–9), see under D36616.
