Stylistically similar to Tate D00193 (Turner Bequest XVII R), though on a slightly different support, this is also copied from the 1792 view of Battle Abbey gatehouse by Michael ‘Angelo’ Rooker (1746–1801; Royal Academy, London). There are related colour notes on the verso (D40231).
