This sketch may record a scene in Bristol harbour; see folios 13 verso–14 recto (D01701–D01702; Turner Bequest XLII 26–27). Alternatively, it may have been noted at Fonthill, where this sketchbook was also in use in 1799: see folios 6 verso–7 recto (D01687–D01688; Turner Bequest XLII 12–13). Timber felling and related activities were part of William Beckford’s work on the house and estate which Turner was employed to record.
