Drawn with the page turned horizontally, this is a study for the single figure of Jason in the mythological painting of that title, shown at the Royal Academy in 1802 (Tate N00471).1 A tentative sketch of the same figure is on folio 1 recto (D04902; Turner Bequest LXXXI 1); see also folio 14 verso (D04929; Turner Bequest LXXXI 28).
