Technical notes:
The sheet is discoloured from exposure during prolonged exhibition. This and the next leaf, folio 6 (D03720, D03719; Turner Bequest LXI 63, 63v), were noted by Finberg in 1909 as ‘loose pages’;1 he suggested that they had been ‘cut out’ from this point in the book,2 where they have subsequently been rebound.
