Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, there are slight costume studies of three figures, apparently in uniform; they may be soldiers observed around Louis-Philippe’s residence at Eu; the town is shown on the recto (D35587) and on folio 58 verso (D35590); for other views see under folio 21 verso (D35525).
There are similar figure studies on folio 58 recto opposite (D35589).
Technical notes:
There is some brown staining at the gutter, possibly indicating water damage in the 1928 Tate flood.
